St. Patrick's Day '09 (pics)

Alrighty everyone, I'm a little late with the holiday festivities slide show but school has been keeping me busy :( But I'm on spring break now! WHOOHOO.... unfortunately I'll be spending some of that time writing a paper on Genghis Khan.

But on to the fun!

After getting in our green finery we headed out to Honolulu to check out the parade. We ended up stopping at the Yard House (they have the widest selections of draft beers don't cha know). We had traditional Irish food-Mom had a Shepherd's pie that was bigger than her head, Seanny and I split a corn beef sandwich (YUM), and they both had Harp's! I'm not much of a beer drinker so I had a pomegranate margarita. About 1230 we were done and headed out to see the parade. Well it started at noon and apparently it's a short parade. We missed it :( So on to Kelly O'Neil's for some festive drinks. Seanny moved on to the Guinness, Mom kept with her Harps and I moved on to my amaretto and coke. We stayed there for a while. They had good music, it wasn't overly croweded and Seanny got to network with the Friends of St. Patrick. We'll be joining them (they are having a whisky tasting party/80th birthday party next month). We had good conversations with some folks and then we headed over to Chinatown for the block party that was put on by Murphy's Bar and Grill. We got there before the major crowds, there were kegs (Guinness and Harps) lined up on both sides of the street. They had a parking area closed off and they had more drink stations and then some food (fish n chips, cornbeef, oysters, and to be different some mexican food). We went into O'Tooles for a drink and to check it out. They had a guy singing that was pretty good, a cute little boy that was running around, and a pregnant woman that showed up with a t-shirt that said "more irish on the way" with an arrow at her tummy. SO CUTE. After some fish n chips it started to get busy. We hung out and did some people watching and then decided to check out the band that was playing, The Doolin Rakes "An Irishman Living in Paradise". THEY KICKED ASS! Totally awesome band and we'll be checking them out again. By the time that band was done the place was packed liked sardines and some of the festive wind was taken from our sails. So we called it a night. I did have class the next day :( BOO HISS

Anyhoo... enjoy the pics and Seanny has some different one's on his blog also.

Life is work!

Every day at work I see it, people wanted a quick fix or an easy way to feel/do better.  They always seem a little surprised when I say that...
