Well, last night was Mom and I's first martial arts lesson. First off, we are the only white belts and other than a brown belt (that leads the stretches) the only other adults are the instructors! :( So we are with a bunch of kids/teenagers that are yellow belts and above. Mom and I were not too excited about that but oh well-we were dressed and ready. The first 30 minutes was stretches! OMG that sucked. We did this weird ab thing that we were on our back and had to rock twist our selves around in a circles! If I'm not good at this stuff at least I'll come away with killer abs and thighs.
After the "warm up" the professor took Mom and I along with a yellow belt to the other room to start on our training. We went over the meanings of some of the things and then worked on some blocks and some punches. Not too bad except we are suppose to be spending this whole time in a horse stance. Which is a low squat! Hello! my thighs were shaking and burning by the time we got out of class. I was so happy when that 30 minutes was up! We also worked on our breathing and yelling the whole kia thing. It's not like you say anything on the exhale but the object is to force the all the air out-so it's a deep almost grunt. Yep it's sexy LOL
Needless to say both Mom and I want to be in Phoenix's class with all the little kids:)
Well I got up this morning and was going to go for a run and Mom tempted me to go for a swim so I'm doing that instead:) Not to excited about the cold water that is waiting but it's something different to do.
