Well after 2 weeks off it's back to making soap :( I need the money though so it's all good. I told Mom the other day that as much as this job is cool, and somewhat easy....I'm kinda dread going into work. I figured it's cuz I'm a "crucial" member. There are only 3 of us that make product, and one of the soap makers...that's all he makes is the soap. Which is fine I'd rather make everything but soap but whatever. The issue I have with this job is that in my mind when I think of a temp job (cuz this is what it is, so I can finish school) you are someone that if push comes to shove and you don't show for work...well, it's not a big deal. I mean someone else may have to step it up a bit more but that's about it. If I don't show up...it's a little bit more of someone just "stepping it up" if that makes any sense. Another example, when I told them about my 2 weeks off I had to make extra product so they wouldn't be hurting while I was gone. I dunno...maybe it's cuz of work and I don't like it but it has to be done.
Anyhoo....yesterday we didn't make it surfing, but it was due to logistics. We did go to Waikiki to check it out. Since we are still learning to surf our boards are big and Mom and I are both little women...so we needed to check everything out before showing up and had to drag the boards around. Thank goodness we did! We got there and parked in front of the Hale Koa and then walked up along the beach. Stopped at The Shorebird for lunch, had a festive drink (we felt like tourist), and then walked along the street checking out the new stores. The last time I was actually walking around down there was probably when I was still married to Pete! So it's changed. We ended up at the heart of Waikiki beach, put our towels down and got some sun:) The place is so PACKED with people! I couldn't even imagine being there with those big boards! Plus the waves are so out there. So on top of dragging our boards everywhere, we would have to paddled a long way out to catch the waves! We are so spoiled here on the North Shore. The beaches are hardly ever crowded, and when we do try surfing we don't have to paddle out that far! Driving around these past couple of days I'm just overwhelmed by the beauty of this island. The fact that I can go for a drive and see different landscapes and get a different vibe-it's wonderful. If someone here can't appreciate it, they need to get going :)
But I'm having an off day....I really notice when I don't have a "day" planned. It's been on the fringes ever since I got home. I need some friends out here. I love my parents and the home I have here, don't get me wrong but I miss having friends around me. School can't start soon enough. Today is definitely a lay under the covers all day type of day!
